A few thoughts and observations as we head into the final week of the regular season: -- Garden City has to be in a little bit of shock this week. The town's beloved Bearkats are staying at home during the postseason for the first time since 2007.

High school football area notebook - My West Texas

The No. 13-ranked Bearkats (4-4, 0-1) will try to rebound from its first district loss in almost three years this week. Garden City lost to Fort Davis 38-34 in a tight game where the Indians scored the game-winning touchdown with 42 seconds remaining in the game.
